Easter Holiday Hangover

Myles dying eggs. Bailey said
she was too old this year. Waaah!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday! My mom came to visit and dragged me all over town to shop. I’m not a shopper. In fact, I’d buy everything online if I could. But the kids did need spring clothes. They insist on growing. It’s annoying.

We dyed eggs, took Myles to a Easter egg hunt at church, we made coconut cupcakes, and bought $30 worth of bread from an Italian bakery.

I almost took a blogging break just to spend extra time running it all off on the treadmill, but…I’d miss you! So, I’m not. I mean, I am going to be running, but not taking a break! I will be a little scarce though, because I have some heavy duty editing to work on this week.

So tell me the highlight of your weekend. Of course, celebrating our risen Savior was the BIGGEST. I woke up, came into the living room where my husband sat drinking coffee and reading his Bible, raised my hands in the air and shook them as I said, “Heeee’s aliiiivve!” in my Frankenstein voice.

TP shook his head, but smirked and I said, “What? Jesus thinks it’s funny. I already said it to Him. ‘You’re Aliiiivve!’ Now where’s my Easter basket?”

It was on my desk–on my laptop. Cadbury eggs, iTunes card, and a gift card to a Home store.

So I repeat: What was the highlight of your weekend?

  1. Whoa! You got a basket? Awesome. *grin*
My kids had a blast at the in-laws and I finished a good book. 🙂

  2. My Easter highlight – seeing my little guy looking so handsome in his button up shirt and tie. 🙂

  3. I love getting Easter baskets from my husband! Mine didn't get me candy this year, because he knew I'd been working hard at Weight Watchers, trying to lose a ton of weight! Sweet of him, huh?

My highlight was Sunday morning at church, when the whole church brought flowers to the front of the sanctuary and turned a cross of thorns into a cross of flowers. The bloom of the cross…it held so much meaning! I loved it!

  4. I hear ya on being tempted to take a break. I wrote about gunk on dishes for Pete's sake. 😀 Highlight = some awesome fellowship time with new friends during an Easter meal yesterday.

  5. So funny–"He's Aliive!" Ha!!

    I'm not a shopper either, Jessica. But it's a necessary evil…

We had a lovely weekend. Went to the Toledo Mud Hens game Saturday night and couldn't stop laughing at the two drunk old guys behind us. Seriously, you wouldn't believe the stuff they were saying! My DD and I know that Bill and Rick (that's their names) both had wives who left them. Apparently, Debbie leaving was the best thing that ever happened to Rick, and Bill is happy to have Christine out of his life. But Sherri did the impossible–she got Bill to hold onto a job. Isn't that terrific? 🙂 Oh, and the Toledo Mud Hens' right fielder "ain't going to Detroit" and the shortstop had a 700 octave "YOU SUCK" shouted at him. It went on and on!!

    Happy editing!

  6. I had a great weekend (and I am taking a break…call me lazy, it's OK). I got to sing for all three services yesterday, so that was tiring but awesome, and then we went to my in-laws for lunch/dinner/way too much eating.

And I think I would pay money to see you do the He's Alive Frakenstein thing. 😀

  7. I had a wonderful weekend. Our daughter home from college, and a family dinner.

Church felt a little unlike Easter morning, because I was in the nursery…where it pretty much felt like any other Sunday. 🙂

  8. My parents have been out of town since Thanksgiving and returned this week. We all had Easter dinner together.

  9. Two highlights – ALL yesterday, I had "Alive, Forever Amen" going through my head. What a BLESSING! And on Friday (weekend still, right?) we got guinea pigs for the kids. They're SO cute!

  10. Awww, he still gets you an Easter basket! How sweet is that? The highlight of my Easter (besides two wonderful services) was gathering with my mom, sisters, their kiddos and all the family to catch up on life. Nobody rushing around, just time to chat, play games and veg together. Soul-refreshing!

  11. Hearing my son-in-law's sermon and seeing my daughter, him and my grandsons – all against the backdrop of knowing He is alive and they all belong to Him!

  12. Funny! The highlight for me was attending church and then a brunch held by one of my friends. She was sweet enough to invite women whose husbands were either away on business or deployed. Her hospitality reminded me of God's kindness.

  13. Highlight for me was when hubby said he wanted to be in charge of the kids' Easter baskets, then came home with over $70 of CANDY!!! When I asked him what in the world he was thinking, he looked at me very innocently and said, "What? This isn't how we usually do it?" Umm. No. Anyways, now I laugh every time I see the three shopping bags of unopened candy in my pantry. Goof ball! 🙂 Glad you're not taking a break! But get those edits done lady!! 😉

  14. Had a great weekend because I ran and rode my bike in the beautiful sunshine! Had a great time with my son who took me to see The Hunger Games and enjoyed a wonderful church service on Sunday with my mom….

One of those GREAT weekends! Glad you enjoyed yours too!

    Blessings,
    Ruth

  15. Jessica, I tagged you for a fun quiz. It'll be on my blog Tuesday, April 10th. Hop on over to check it out. No pressure, though 🙂

  16. Well, I ended up spending a lot of yesterday in the bed (completely unplanned) and spending today at the doctor's (also unplanned.) But the highlight of the day was seeing my family. They are truly the greatest gift God's ever given me –next to the gift of reconciliation with him.

  17. My highlight was visiting my nieces and nephew, along with my brother and sister in law. We hadn't seen each other in quite some time. We had such a terrific time together!

  18. Haha! My husband did the same thing Lacie's did. 🙂 And of course my kids loved him. Yep, I'm livin' the life. 🙂

  19. Bwahahaha! I'll have to try that "He's Aliiiiive" with Jason next year. Hilarious!

My highlight was hearing my 10-year-old be EXCITED that she was going to be in church for two services! She didn't even mind that we had to get there early, or that she would be sitting through the same Kids Church lesson twice. That, my friend, is a blessing!

  20. My Easter highlight? Making it until all the family left so I could collapse my 8 mo prego self into bed! LOL

  21. what do you mean your kids insist on growing 😉 We had a lovely Easter. Probably the hay ride/Easter egg hunt on the farm was the highlight. The kids had a blast.

  22. Hahaaa, your kids insist on growing and it's "annoying." Had to laugh at that! We had a nice dinner at my mom and stepdad's house, and then watched a couple of shows on their 3D TV!!
